What is FISH of East Denver?

FISH of East Denver is a small, completely volunteer, registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that has operated continuously in East Denver since 1974. The FISH idea began in England in 1961 and came to the United States in 1964, delivering free food directly to your home. FISH of East Denver consists of food pantries housed at two Washington Park area churches — but these are not walk-in pantries. FISH is delivery only.

How is FISH different from other food pantries?

FISH is different from many other food pantries because we:

Deliver directly to your home. FISH is NOT a standing food pantry. We deliver only.

Are for emergencies only. We help if you cannot go to a standing food pantry or grocery store.

Do not require proof of income. We do not ask if you have SNAP, WIC, or other assistance.

Who is eligible for FISH?

FISH delivers to clients who:

▪ Are not able to go to standing food pantry or grocery store. For example, FISH delivers to clients who are homebound or caregivers, do not have access to transportation, are too ill to leave home, or cannot go out safely in bad weather. If you are able to go to a grocery store or standing food pantry, we ask that you please reserve our services for your friends and neighbors who need direct food delivery.
